EASTSIDE BLOSSOMS PROJECT CONTINUES TO BLOOM
Today, the EFWI board authorized the purchase of 423 trees to plant between E. Loop 820 and Oakland Blvd. These trees are to be planted between November of 2016 and February of 2017.
EASTSIDE BLOSSOMS is a project of EFWI to beautify the entrances into Gateway Park and the roadways surrounding Gateway Park. Also, the roadway between the Bass Towers in the Fort Worth Central Business District to E. Loop 820. The entire project is expected to take 2,000 trees. Completion of these plantings will bring the total, since the forming of the EASTSIDE BLOSSOMS committee, to 672 in the first two planting seasons.
We are working on a plan to landscape the E. First Street entry into Gateway Park. This will entail the planting of an additional 43 trees with an irrigation system and various other plantings. We hope to plant these trees in November bringing our total to 715. These plantings are dependent on raising approximately $50,000. We are expecting donations toward this need.
SOON TO BE LANDSCAPED EAST FIRST STREET ENTRY TO GATEWAY PARK
We are working on a grant for the funds to plant 152 Mexican Plum trees along Randol Mill Road, the south boundary of Quanah Parker Park. These plantings will provide a beautiful row of blossoming trees that will enhance the park, the Trinity River trail system and the drive along Randol Mill Road. ESB is soliciting $37,500 for the purchase, planting and 3 years of watering the trees.
For those interested in donating to the EASTSIDE BLOSSOMS project, please go to EASTSIDEBLOSSOMS.ORG to make your donation. The donation should be to EFWI which is a 501 (c) 3 organization.
